It’s All About the Kids!
ACCELERATE
As you may recall, The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation is proud to be the major sponsor of an exciting collaboration called “ACCELERATE”. While the concept is simple, the execution is not. The idea is to bring ALL of the stakeholders together to accelerate childhood cancer research discovery. Around the table we have representatives of Industry (pharma companies), Academia (clinicians, researchers), Advocates (like us), and Regulators (FDA for the US, EMA for the EU, etc.)
Last week, we gathered at the headquarters of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the counterpart to our FDA, in Amsterdam. We had representatives from literally all over the world. The topic of this Pediatric Strategy Forum was DNA Damage Repair Inhibitors. The progress from these Forums is just so impressive! YOU should be very proud of what you are making possible. In addition to addressing this very important topic, I had a chance to spend some time with my fellow patient advocates. In this picture below are representatives from Switzerland, Belgium, US, and France.
While in Amsterdam, I snuck in a little free time and caught a Champions League soccer game between Amsterdam’s AFC Ajax and AFC Liverpool (I think Andrew would be proud) and walked around the Nieuwmarkt section.
NYDM Halloween Party
Upon my return, I hopped on a train the next morning and headed to NYC for the NYDM Halloween Party in Washington Square Park. The students did a FANTASTIC job and all of the B+ Heroes and their families had a great time. I’m so proud of all of our student partners all over the country! Pictures below is Zeta Psi with their B+ Hero (on Dad’s shoulders) and his family.
Make it a great weekend. Live Like Andrew!
