A Lot Going On in B+ Nation!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 15th Annual B+ Golf Outing on October 4th at the DuPont Country Club. We were fortunate, once again, to have good weather (thanks Andrew 😉 and everyone had a great time. The highlight of the day was listening to B+ Hero Teyton and his Dad speak at the dinner. SO inspiring! And, I’m pleased to report that we grossed nearly $80,000 on the day. This has already been put to good use as I wrote 90 family assistance checks yesterday for just this past week alone.
Attention State of Delaware Employees!!!!
We’re coming down to the final weeks of the SECC campaign whereby you can make payroll donations to The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. It’s an easy way to give and we greatly appreciate your support.
15th Annual B+ 5k!!!
NOW is the time to register for the 15th Annual B+ 5k!!! Our event will be Halloween weekend and I know, virtual is NOT as good as our usual 5k with a ton of free food, B+ Heroes, and community fellowship. But, we had to make the call last month and, with dozens of kids with suppressed immune systems and Delta flaring up at the time, we just couldn’t take a chance. WE STILL NEED YOU!!! Please sign up, get your friends on board, and send out the solicitation emails/post on social media. I will be distributing a limited number of B+ 5k long-sleeved shirts in the parking lot of Salesianum School at 10am on Saturday Oct. 30th. PLEASE sign up…our kids need you.
Legendary Dad Bod contest
Similar to the Miss Jetset contest that we are the beneficiary of, the organizers have a new contest called the Legendary Dad Bod contest! What a great idea. You should see the pictures and the answers to questions about the guys’ lawns, Dad jokes, etc. It’s hilarious. And, most of the money donated for extra votes for contestants will go to The B+ Foundation. This is the inaugural year, so I can’t really even guess how much will be raised. Check it out at this link.
Research Update
I just wanted to give you an update on our current research grant cycle. During this cycle, we will award $1,500,000 to fund cutting-edge childhood cancer research. We are blessed to have 10 world-class pediatric oncologist who volunteer their time as our B+ Foundation Scientific Advisory Board. This year, we will be reviewing 23 grant proposals (fyi…each proposal is about 50-60 pages) from the US, Canada, Italy, and Romania. I will keep you posted on our selections. It literally gives me chills to think that all of our little efforts, combined together, make such a meaningful difference in the landscape of childhood cancer.
MAKE IT A GREAT WEEKEND!
