Dear Friends,
Hello. I'm participating in the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation’s 5k Run/Walk because I believe in the Foundation’s overall mission to “Do Good.” Please support me by sponsoring me today.
The money we raise helps in the following ways:
- Keeps the B+ message alive through outreach efforts that share the lessons that Andrew taught us: to have fun, show affection, set goals and try your best, appreciate all that we have, to have faith, to keep our lives in perspective, and to always make time for loved ones.
- Supports the Andrew McDonough Scholarship Fund at Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware
- Provides Financial Assistance for Families in Crisis by providing monetary grants to allow families of critically ill children to focus on what’s truly important – the health of their child.
- Sponsors Medical Research to find a cure for Leukemia and other related illnesses.
HOW TO HELP: Join my team and run or walk with me on June 19th at Salesianum in Wilmington, Delaware. Or contribute toward my team goal by making a donation online. You can donate directly from my team web page with a credit card. Or, if you prefer, I can also accept cash or check sent to me, made out to the B+ Foundation.

ANDREW’S STORY:
For those not familiar with the Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation, it came to be in 2007 when a 14 year old competitive soccer and baseball player and all around great kid was rushed to the hospital with a stomach ache after playing in a weekend soccer tournament. What his family thought was appendicitis turned out to be everyone’s worst nightmare, Andrew was diagnosed with Leukemia and the doctors told his family it was unlikely that Andrew would live through the night.
Andrew miraculously lived on for 166 days, fighting the disease like a true champion with his family, friends and others at his side. There were over 1 million visits to his website that chronicled his fight. However, on July 14th, 2007, Andrew was awarded his seat in Heaven.
In just 14 short years, Andrew changed the world in so many positive ways. He was and continues to be an inspiration for all. He will be remembered not just for his curly blonde hair and ear-to-ear smile, but for his kindness, fun-loving personality, affectionate nature, and charisma. Many described it as the “Magic of Andrew.” He lit up every room he stepped foot in and had a special way with everyone he met, both old and young.
To honor Andrew and spread his “magic,” his family formed the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation to share the lessons that Andrew taught so many throughout his full but far too short life. The Foundation picks up where Andrew left off by inspiring people to “Live Like Andrew” by using each day to brighten the world in some way; encouraging people to donate blood, as well as helping other families going through medical crisis and reminding parents and children to appreciate each other.
