Our son was honored to be the recipient of the Andrew McDonough "Heart of a Champion" award through Big Al Szolack. We are very grateful and hope that our son David can (and seems to) live up to the ideals of this foundation. It is all too rare that certain special individuals pass before us, leaving their mark both in life and in death.

I am very moved, impressed, and proud of how Ali conducted herself during Andrew's hospital experience. To attend school, and keep focused in the midst of this family life-changing experience, is commendable and not easy. I am sure her "sacrifices" on behalf of her brother ended up meaning more to her as she spent precious time with him. God bless Ali.

Joe and Ally, I just wanted to drop you a line about Joe's appearance at the St. Elizabeth Elementary School graduation and the scholarship winner. Joe's speech was an unbelievably great and heartfelt speech. I hope the graduates will listen, really listen to your words. I hope that some of them will do their required high school volunteer for your foundation. I know I will push my daughter in your direction.
Your recipient Collen is a great kid and you should be very proud you chose him. Again a speech your son would be very proud of. Thank you for the both of you and thank you for coming to St. E's.
John D.

Hello, I did not get a chance to meet your son Andrew but like your son My daughter who is 16 is fighting leukemia we found out on may 18 2009. So now we are like most families with seriously ill children living and breathing hospital life. My Father told me about the website a lady had stop in the wrong place and heard my father talking about my daughter when she said it was a reason God wanted her to stop there. I wanted to say thank you for your website it has touch my life and your son will always be in my heart. When I saw that your son name is on a bench at Ocean City NJ my heart was touch know families will be sitting on a bench to remember your son. We stay in Ocean City NJ during the summer. My Grandparents own two places in Ocean city on chelsea place between 15 and 16 street. Our houses are near the boardwalk 634 and 612 It in my hopes that my daughter Ashley will be able to get to go down to the beach this summer and we will sit on your son bench to remember all of his struggles through this childhood disease. Our caringbridge website is prettyprincessgrace thanks you for your story. Ms Kathryn Kriebel

i played soccer with andrew. he was something else. no matter how bad of a day anybody was having, he could get them smiling. recently, i have been smiling and laughing and trying to get others to smile. i think i am successful of that goal, and i know that its only because my best friend is helping me.

Andrew was my first person I prayed for on Caringbridge. Your family taught me so much about prayer and love. Since that time I've been linked from site to site, and am praying for 10-20 kids at a time. You also awakened me to the situation with childhood cancer and I am on alert for any bill that passes. I want to thank you so much for sharing your story, for stimulating me into action, and for your journey for the human race. Bless you.
