Dear Joe, I don't know you or your family. Your story was told to me at a track meet at Baynard Stadium one Sunday last year, I remember thinking that it must be sad to have a child ill like your son. I also remember being grateful my two children were able to participate in the meet. Now I have found your website after learning about the Jefferson Awards a while back. It is strange how God places events in your life at times because I now look to you for strength as my family struggles with our 10 year old daughter Pearce's medulloblastoma. Our days in pain are lessened thanks to people like yourself who have made a positive impact on others even through, what seems like, impossible times. I wish I could have met your son. Andrew sounds like someone you can emulate. Thanks and God bless

Joe, Thanks again for all you've done for the community as a result of Andrew's spirit and courage. I dropped off some cards in the Philippines last week when I was there. Let's hope it catches on across the globe! Another family I know has been stricken with this terrible disease. 5 year old Molly was diagnosed with ALL about a week ago and is undergoing treatment at AI www.caringbridge.org/visit/mollyanderson. I know if anyone can relate and perhaps send words of wisdom and encouragement their way - it would be you. Thanks for all you do.

This past weekend I participated in the Delaware 10 Miler. I have to say that hearing Andrew's story really solidified why I run for Team in Training and why I am raising money for this amazing cause. Your speech was incredibly inspiring. I will continue to raise money so we can conquer the battle that is blood cancer. Thank you for sharing your story with all of us.

This is my 2nd year participating in LLS Team in Training. This past weekend I participate in the Deleware Marathon and helped raise over $2800 for LLS. Andrews Dad, Joe, spoke at a pre marathon party hosted by Team in Training. I have to tell you, I was so isnpired. There was not a dry eye in the room. At the end of his speach, Joe held up a picture of Andrew, and I will forever have that picture in my mind. Being my first marathon (last year was a 1/2 marathon) it was VERY difficult. At about mile 18 my back and legs hurt so badly, I just did not know how I was going to finish the 26.2 miles. It was at that point that I thought of Andrews Story. At that point, I just wanted to break down and cry, but I remained strong for Andrew. In addition to the coaches that stuck with me, It was Andrew's story, and the memory of his picture that Joe held up the night before that got me through. Thank you Andrew, and thank you Joe for sharing Andrew with us!

On 10/21/07 I walked the Nike Women's 1/2 Marathon with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Northern New Jersey Chapter in honor of Andrew. I've committed to train, fundraise and walk it again with Team In Training on 10/19/08. I will continue to honor Andrew by wearing his name on my shirt. I will Pay It Forward on the course, like I did last year, by passing out Andrew's B+ cards to the children with goodies as a thank you for cheering for us. Please check out my website honoring Andrew and so many others. If you look above Andrew's name, my left shoulder, you can see Andrew's picture that I wore so prouldy. http://pages.teamintraining.org/nnj/nikesf08/afrank Thank you again for sharing Andrew & your family. You continue to inspire me.

Hello - I am happy to say that I have created my own team, Jess U Can, and both my sister and I will be attending the walk/run. We are so excited and cannot wait to meet all of you. Some of our family and friends will attend as well. You are all in my heart and prayers each and everyday. Thank you for reminding so many of us what love, friendship, and kindness is all about. Your site rocks! Congratulations on putting together such a thoughtful resource for families as well as an incredible tribute to Andrew. You must be so proud. If there were only more people in the world like Joe, Chris and Ali. God bless you all for the inspiration you give. Kerrie, Mom of Cole www.caringbridge.org/visit/colefitzgerald
